Bearing Housing: Why We Die-Cast It In-House

The bearing housing is the component that determines long-term rotation quality, and it's where most rotating mechanism quality problems originate. The housing bore holds the outer race of the bearing — if the bore is out of round by more than ±0.1mm, the bearing preload is uneven, and you get a mechanism that feels smooth in one rotational position and slightly stiff in another. At ±0.2mm out of round, the bearing wears unevenly and develops play within 12–18 months of regular use.

We brought zinc alloy die-casting in-house specifically because third-party foundries in this region won't reliably hold ±0.05mm on a bearing bore without a premium tooling arrangement that most mechanism factories don't want to pay for. Our die-casting team holds ±0.05mm on the bore as a standard production requirement, not a special request. Every housing goes through a bore gauge check before it moves to assembly — not sampling, every piece.
